I Hear Banjo Music in W. Virginia. C'mon boys, Row Faster! 🪕 🎶 🛶 Auth. Note: in Support of My good Friends M+S=❤️ scott l. 🐝
After rowing all day,
ravenous as a Bigfoot 🐾 wandering the mountains,
I step into Stevo’s Green Meadow 🌿.
---
Like St. Peter returning to shore after a storm,
every aching joint reminds me how hard the journey was —
and how sweet the arrival can be.
---
Smoke curls through the trees like music 🎶, thick, sweet, teasing.
Stevo tends the fire 🔥 — briskets, prime cuts, sausages —
each sizzle a note, each curl of smoke a whisper of care.
---
Somewhere, faint over the radio static, a voice calls:
“$200 if you answer that one right!”
— a Jeopardy echo, teasing your mind as your stomach rumbles.
It doesn’t fully make sense — that’s the point.
It’s a tiny slip that hits your brain,
makes you pause, smile, maybe research, maybe remember.
---
Now that’s hot — really hot, sizzling hot, 🥓🍳🪕⚡️🎶
the kind that makes your mouth water before you even see the plate.
---
And my God, what is that smell?
Toppen’s premium whiskey 🥃 on the table,
laughter ringing through the meadow —
there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.
---
Juliet — JJ for short, the little Chihuahua we once called Little Bear 🐻,
like the stars of the Little Dipper in Ursa Minor —
drops a dead Scorpio at my feet.
“What the hell is a Scorpio doing here?” I wonder?
---
But that’s West Virginia — rugged, surprising,
a little wild, a little strange, and entirely alive.
---
🎈 Banjo music swells 🎵 ⚡️ 🎆
Friends raise glasses 🥂.
Stories and jokes fly like sparks from the fire 🔥.
---
It’s the small things, the kindnesses, the laughs, the trust —
the moments that make friendship close, dear, and unforgettable.
---
And if you stand here long enough, tasting bourbon, feeling the firelight on your face,
you understand the secret:
it’s the tiny sparks that make life bright,
the little attentions that reveal the heart.
---
Oh, please — take me home, West Virginia, take me home.
---
BINGO! Good night, y’all.
Sweet dreams in the land of legendary hyper-fantasy.
Where Humpty Dumpty stays true to his call,
serving God and spreading His love throughout the kingdom.
---
For tomorrow, we need to get our rest.
For tomorrow, we go pick fine West Virginia peaches 🍑 and apples 🍏.
Gettin’ home on the open road to West Virginia.
Oh my, oh my, oh me, oh my —
was that a whisper I heard?
guiding me to gather the sweet, curved, sun-kissed fruits of West Virginia,
each line and curve a delight to behold?
