Sugar Planet
Romeo tapped the snack-fabricator and waited like a man about to make a very serious life decision. The machine chimed, and a bright handful of fresh Reese’s Pieces rolled into his palm.
“Ah — the good stuff,” he said. “No bushes involved this time.”
He looked across the cabin. Juliet was already watching him with that I-know-what-you’re-up-to smile. The bracelet on her wrist caught the light, colors glimmering like a tiny rainbow that seemed to say, Yes, I remember too.
Romeo held up the candy.
“Scientific test,” he announced. “To confirm whether love tastes the same in space.”
Juliet raised an eyebrow. “And your hypothesis?”
He grinned. “Requires multiple samples.”
She laughed — the same laugh as that first day — and moved closer as he poured half the candies into her hand.
Candy in one hand.
Promise on her arm.
A universe outside the window.
“Round two,” he said.
“Round infinity,” she replied.
