🔥🐍Fire Grilled Python

Vietnam Style Recipe

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS

• 2 lb legally sourced, cleaned python meat, cut into thick strips or chunks

• 3 tbsp neutral cooking oil

• Juice of 2 limes

• 2 tbsp fish sauce

• 1 tbsp soy sauce

• 1 tbsp brown sugar

• 4 garlic cloves, minced

• 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

• 1 stalk lemongrass, finely minced

• 1 small red chili, minced — optional

• 1 tsp ground coriander

• ½ tsp black pepper

• Fresh cilantro

• Lime wedges for serving

MARINADE

Mix the oil, lime juice, fish sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, chili, coriander, and black pepper.

Add the python pieces and coat thoroughly.

Cover and refrigerate for 2–4 hours.

GRILL

Heat a charcoal or gas grill to medium-high heat.

Clean and lightly oil the grill grate.

Remove the python from the marinade and discard the used marinade.

Place the python pieces on the grill and cook until nicely charred on the outside, turning periodically.

For thicker pieces, move them away from the strongest direct heat and allow them to finish cooking more gently.

Cook until the thickest part reaches 165°F / 74°C.

You want that wilderness-grill effect:

Smoke rising.

Meat sizzling.

Juices hitting the coals.

Fire crackling underneath.

FINISH

Let the grilled python rest briefly.

Squeeze fresh lime over the meat and garnish with cilantro.

Serve with:

• Steamed jasmine rice

• Grilled vegetables

• Fresh cucumber

• Vietnamese herbs

• Chili-lime dipping sauce

FOOD-SAFETY NOTE

Reptiles can carry Salmonella, so handle raw python carefully and keep it separate from cooked or ready-to-eat foods.

Only use legally sourced meat that is considered safe for human consumption.

Do not use wild Florida Burmese python for this recipe, because Florida health authorities currently advise against eating it due to mercury concerns.
