Where the Banner Stood

Fort McHenry Baltimore named for a patriot doctor of war

Through smoke and cannon fire storm dark skies

Where the banner stood in the dawn's early light the fort endured through the night

1812 thunder on the harbor walls we did not break

Where the banner stood in the dawn's early light the fort endured through the night

Words from fire and smoke a song of survival

American resilience born in the fight Fort McHenry Baltimore

Through smoke, cannon fire, and storm-darkened skies, the fort endured through the night — inspiring the words that would become The Star-Spangled Banner, a lasting symbol of American resilience and survival.
