The Great Raptor

(inspired by Isaiah 40:31)

“...they shall mount up with wings as eagles.”

Eyes fixed farther than fear could follow,

the great raptor rides cold winds

high above the valley haze.

Anxiety circles the earth below,

while faith still searches beyond the storm

for the first sign of light.

Golden wings stretch wide in silence—

driven by hunger, survival, and purpose together,

as though creation itself remembers the heights.

Light gathers beyond the thunderheads,

where speed and stillness move as one

above the noise of the world.

Even now the great eagle turns into dawn,

descending with terrifying grace

before rising once more beyond the dark.

The crowning jewel of my studies came when I earned the only passing grade of an A from a Harvard professor — a true master of the craft of Shakespeare

And the English language, whose guidance opened the gateway to worlds of imagination, discipline, and wonder.

Married for 25 years, I share the good life with two dogs (Isabella and Juliet) and one cat named Maddie. In my free time, I enjoy writing, biking, gospel music, and spending time with my pastor and friends.
