Skating the Danube

The Danube’s Waltz

From Germany’s Black Forest springs its song,

A ribbon of silver winding long.

Through ten proud nations it glides with grace,

From Western hills to the Black Sea’s embrace.

A lifeline of traders, empires, and kings,

Its banks have witnessed monumental things.

Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade dance by,

To Johann Strauss’ melody floating high.

In winters harsh, its waters may sleep,

Ice-bound stretches where skaters leap.

The delta blooms with a thousand wings,

Where reeds whisper and the nightingale sings.

A queen, a divider, a unifier too,

Binding the old lands with waters true.

The Danube flows — a timeless thread,

A river of stories, where past is wed.

Born Blessed in South Korea in 1969 and raised in Baltimore, I’ve built a career with 20 years in customer service and 10 years in behavioral health. The crowning jewel of my studies came when I earned the only passing grade of an A from a Harvard professor — a true master of the craft of Shakespeare

And the English language, whose guidance opened the gateway to worlds of imagination, discipline, and wonder.

Married for 25 years, I share the good life with two dogs (Isabella and Juliet) and one cat named Maddie. In my free time, I enjoy writing, biking, gospel music, and spending time with my pastor and friends.
