Party at the Park

Hopeville — May 1, 2026

Sat. — swept two stairwells

five flights each

Thurs. — mowed the lawn

Fri. — grillmaster

One week serving my Lord.

Thurs., day of the mow—

Pastor had already wiped down

that monster of a grill.

“Keep hell goin’ for a while,”

I said—half-smiling.

I told Pastor Chris:

that’s what it means—

doing the Lord’s work with humility

when no one but God is watching.

We looked at each other—

biggest smiles.

Pumped and ready to spring into action

(to mow—nothing like running toward danger 🏃‍♂️)

Other than pouring gasoline to fuel up,

no danger.

I told Pastor Chris,

“Go take care of your priestly duties—

I’ve got this.”

He chuckled.

We carried on.

Me mowing.

Him picking up littered trash.

He said he liked doing it.

I left him alone.

Simple work.

Beautiful day.

Kids at play.

Tomorrow—

Party at the park.

God’s green meadow.

The crowning jewel of my studies came when I earned the only passing grade of an A from a Harvard professor — a true master of the craft of Shakespeare

And the English language, whose guidance opened the gateway to worlds of imagination, discipline, and wonder.

Married for 25 years, I share the good life with two dogs (Isabella and Juliet) and one cat named Maddie. In my free time, I enjoy writing, biking, gospel music, and spending time with my pastor and friends.
