The Green Plume
Far away in Texas, Scott L. #13 had once again found himself at the center of a situation nobody could adequately explain.
Reports began arriving from every direction.
A strange green plume had appeared.
A tornado was forming.
Witnesses claimed a giant UFO had been seen overhead.
Others insisted a Tyrannosaurus rex was somehow involved.
Nobody could agree on exactly what was happening.
Everybody agreed on one thing.
Something had gone terribly wrong.
Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away in Colorado, the Population 5 expedition continued its rafting adventure completely unaware that events were already being set into motion.
For the moment, the river remained calm.
The mystery, however, was just beginning.
Shorty's Light π₯«
Nobody remembered exactly when the poster first appeared.
One day it simply showed up along the Colorado River Expedition route, nailed to a weathered board near the beach.
At first glance, it looked like an ordinary advertisement.
Then people started reading it.
The mountains were bigger.
The smiles were brighter.
The water looked colder.
And somehow, every road seemed to lead to Shorty's Light.
Visitors stopped.
Laughed.
Pointed.
Took photographs.
Some swore the fellow holding the can looked familiar.
Others claimed the entire poster made absolutely no sense.
Both groups were correct.
The ladies continued enjoying the sunshine.
The Poseidon water stayed cold.
The Colorado River kept flowing.
And somewhere beneath the neon glow, the unofficial motto of Population 5 quietly settled into legend:
"Cold water. Good friends. Great stories."
Whether Shorty's Light was real, nobody could say.
But the poster was.
And that was good enough for most folks.
POP 5 - P as in Papa, O, P 5.
Foxy Lady POPPY
Jersey says POP and she owns it. She was DPW tech support. She saw the portal codes. They tried to silence her. Now sheβs sprinting through Green Meadow with a T-Rex behind her and a twister to her left, yelling at the boys to βHURRY!β Sheβs the only one who might know how to reverse the portal.
POPPY Rescue Scene,
TEXAS π¨π±
Red 5 and Scott L. #13 breaking all the rules in Texas.
Texas.
The tornado had passed.
At least, that was what the radio said.
Inside the storm cellar, nobody moved.
Scott L. #13 listened.
Red Five watched the door.
Poppy held the portal energy in her hand, quiet and ready.
Then the radio cracked again.
Emergency.
Storm.
Severe weather.
Static filled the room.
A flash split the sky.
Everyone counted without meaning to.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
Seven.
Then came the boom.
The cellar shook.
Dust fell from the ceiling.
The lantern swung.
Outside, the world went silent.
Too silent.
Poppy looked toward the open door.
Whatever had just happened...
it was not over.
