Rainbow
Each color arrives on its own,
Complete in its light.
Yet together,
They begin to reveal
Something promised.
Red 🍫
Roy’s riding a burning light,
As if on a glowing red comet,
Its tail streaming bright—
A diamond wave left behind.
Roy’s comet is a red-hot rocket 🚀
It blooms with force,
Breaking the sound barrier at Mach 5.
Streamlined, hair slicked back,
A bag of Reese’s slung at his waist.
Red petals swirl from roses,
Soft and fragrant, brushing his vision,
The scent of warm earth
And crushed blooms filling the air.
Orange 🍊
Sunlight spills in orange-gold streaks,
Dancing on hydrangeas and marigolds,
Tinged with the faint tang of pollen,
The garden alive in blur, warmth, and hum.
Yellow 🚧
He leans too far—
Tires shiver—
Almost loses it—
But catches himself, heart pounding,
As golden snapdragons tilt toward him,
Their petals warm beneath his fingertips,
Sugar lingering on his tongue.
Green 🚦
A brown-eyed sparkle at the edge of the blur.
Tulips, lilies, poppies
Waving in soft green light.
Cool leaves brush his palms,
Fresh soil grounding the rush.
He can’t tell which is brighter—
Her eyes
Or the living green around them.
Blue 🌀
“Oh my God—wow—that was close.”
He gasps, gripping the handlebars.
She looks up,
Thinking maybe he’s speaking to her,
As bluebells nod in the breeze,
The crisp scent of water
And morning air between them.
Indigo 💜
They fall into laughter,
Hands sticky with chocolate and sugar,
Sweetness streaked across their cheeks,
Indigo shadows drifting between leaves.
They learn—
Mess is part of falling in love.
Candy, sun, breath—
Lingering.
Shared warmth,
Quietly catching fire.
Violet / Pale 🌈
They find a pail,
Abandoned at the garden’s edge.
Together, they carry it to the well,
Fill it with cool, clear water.
Wash hands.
Wash faces.
Wash away the excess sweetness.
And realize:
Love can be messy—
But also gentle,
Clean,
And lasting.
In the pale, quiet light,
Hands rinsed, hearts still racing,
They step forward
Into something like forever.
The rainbow lingers.
Not just above them,
But everywhere.
For it is promise.
For He so loved the world.
And that love
Cannot be forgotten,
Nor denied.
