BIG MAC DESTRUCTION

WIENER-005 was on patrol.

Scott L. was at the helm. Poppy was keeping watch over the valley, the monitors blinking. The monkey was in his gunnery position.

Then something appeared on radar.

A big blip.

β€œScott. Look down there.”

Three hundred feet up an enormous tree was the yellow-haired Sloth Monster.

He was hugging the trunk with one arm.

And in the other hand?

A Big Mac.

The sloth had climbed all the way up for one reason.

He wasn’t going to share it with nobody.

Not the birds. Not the squirrels. Not another sloth.

Nobody.

He was a greedy sloth.

A greedy, greedy sloth.

The Sloth Monster had been tracked and monitored for twelve hours.

Not that tracking him was difficult.

He was slow as shit.

Watching him move was like watching grass grow from outer space.

The monkey had the Big Mac in his crosshairs hours ago.

His finger tightened on the trigger.

Then the radio crackled.

β€œAlpha Team One to Crazy Banana. Hold your fire. Repeat, hold your fire.”

The monkey reluctantly eased off the trigger, a bead of sweat trickling down his temple.

One more breath held and released.

He kept his eyes locked on the target.

The crew needed a clean shot.

No innocent bystanders. No collateral damage. Just the Big Mac.

So they waited.

And waited.

Until finally, the moment came.

Isolated. Exposed.

The Sloth Monster held up that Big Mac as if it were the love of his life, something to be admired and gazed upon for hours upon hours.

He never saw it coming. πŸ’₯

And the English language, whose guidance opened the gateway to worlds of imagination, discipline, and wonder.

Married for 25 years, I share the good life with two dogs (Isabella and Juliet) and one cat named Maddie. In my free time, I enjoy writing, biking, gospel music, and spending time with my pastor and friends.
