🐦‍⬛ The Raven — After Nevermore 🐦‍⬛

Poppy had been sitting quietly when the raven appeared above the door.

It watched her.

She watched it.

“Nevermore,” said the raven.

Poppy glanced toward the old portrait on the wall.

Something moved.

The man inside the frame raised his hand…and waved.

Poppy froze.

The raven remained perfectly calm.

Apparently, this was not unusual.

“Edgar?” Poppy whispered.

The old poet smiled.

The raven tilted its head.

“Nevermore.”

Poppy looked from the bird to the portrait.

“You two know each other, don’t you?”

Edgar Allan Poe waved again.

And that answered that.
