Louisiana Swampland π
Not too long ago, 60 Minutes aired a segment about the ivory-billed woodpecker and the reports from Arkansas that captured national attention.
For storytelling purposes, this adventure takes place in the swamplands of Louisiana.
Earlier in the day, he made a shopping list. He folded it neatly and slipped it into his shirt pocket alongside his car keys. Everything was set.
A short time later, he found himself standing in the sporting goods department at Wallymart.
The cart filled quickly.
Binoculars.
Chest waders.
Insect repellent.
A Poseidon cooler.
And, of course, a Gator Bat.
The total climbed higher than expected, but the excitement of the expedition made it worthwhile.
Over the public address system came a familiar voice:
"Thank you for shopping here at Wallymart. Have a pleasant day. Be safe."
With that, he headed for the parking lot.
The adventure was about to begin.
