The First Golden Egg 🪿🥚✨
There once was a farmer who owned a goose.
One morning, he went to the barn and discovered something extraordinary.
There, resting in the goose’s nest, was an egg made of pure gold.
At first, the farmer could hardly believe his eyes.
But the next morning, there was another.
And the morning after that, another still.
Day after day, the goose laid a golden egg.
Before long, the farmer began to grow rich.

Every morning, another golden egg appeared.
And every morning, the farmer hurried to the barn a little faster.
One golden egg became two.
Two became ten.
Before long, the farmer had more gold than he had ever imagined.
But something strange happened.
The more gold he had, the more gold he wanted.
Waiting for one egg each day suddenly seemed much too slow.
And then the farmer began to wonder...
How much gold was inside the goose?

The thought would not leave him.
If the goose could lay one golden egg every day, surely there must be a great treasure hidden inside her.
Why wait?
Why collect one egg at a time when he could have all the gold at once?
The farmer looked at the basket of golden eggs.
Then he looked at the goose.
One egg a day was no longer enough.
He wanted everything.
And he wanted it now.

The farmer had made up his mind.
Surely a goose capable of laying golden eggs must be filled with gold.
Why should he wait another day?
If he could have all the gold at once, he would never have to wait again.
So the farmer made a terrible decision.
He killed the goose and eagerly looked inside.
There was no gold.
There was no treasure.
The goose was just a goose.
And suddenly, the farmer understood what his greed had cost him.
The golden eggs were gone forever.
The Price of Greed 🪿🥚
The farmer had wanted everything at once.
Instead, he was left with nothing.
The goose was gone.
There would be no golden egg the next morning, or the morning after that.
Only then did the farmer understand what he had thrown away.
He had been given a fortune, one golden egg at a time.
But greed had convinced him that enough was never enough.
And in trying to have everything, he lost it all.
Moral:
Greed often loses what patience would have kept.
