Part 4 of 5 — Legendary Culinary Moments: Stingray, Blue Crabs, Iced Tea, Island Beauty

Flavors of the Chesapeake and the mystical allure of Great Fox Island

Among the program’s highlights was tasting stingray for the first time. Mild, sweet, with a texture that blended Maryland blue crab, fish, and squid—this simple preparation, enhanced only by natural sea salt and a hint of cocktail sauce, became an unforgettable culinary moment.

Scott L. experienced the thrill of riding a power-boat, as if flying like a manta ray or a dolphin over the waters, the shallow, pristine channels of Great Fox Island stretching beneath him. Horseshoe crabs, some alive, some remnants of the tidal flats, lay still across sand, while blue crabs added lively motion to the serene landscape.

The Great Fox Island, a shallow landmass in the southern Chesapeake Bay near Solomon’s Islands, remained unspoiled, a living canvas for sensory immersion, legend, and the interplay of imagination with reality.

Scott L.

Born Blessed in South Korea in 1969 and raised in Baltimore, I’ve built a career with 20 years in customer service and 10 years in behavioral health. The crowning jewel of my studies came when I earned the only passing grade of an A from a Harvard professor — a true master of the craft of Shakespeare

And the English language, whose guidance opened the gateway to worlds of imagination, discipline, and wonder.

Married for 25 years, I share the good life with two dogs (Isabella and Juliet) and one cat named Maddie. In my free time, I enjoy writing, biking, gospel music, and spending time with my pastor and friends.
