Part 4: Faith, History, and Inspiration
At the Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore, I went to a Bible study. We talked about Martin Luther, John Calvin, Jan Hus—the early voices insisting each person should seek truth for themselves, not just follow someone holding a title or crown. The elephant in the room, of course, being the Pope.
Funny enough, I asked Pastor Chris, “So… where are we at with this story? Are we still in the Middle East?” My close friend Jim—Romeo, married to Rachel, an amazing poet-writer who inspires me—just smiled. I was embarrassed, but it sparked reflection. And yes, the guillotine thought popped back in.
From that discussion came inspiration. Two, three, even five poems in a few days. Pastor Chris gives off good energy, and somehow, the higher power reaches out through me—not as a chore, but naturally, creatively.
